At 7pm ET, Ohio prosecutors have finally released their decision on the Ray Tensing murder trial.
The jury has deliberated three days before finding Tensing not guilty. The white former University of Cincinnati police officer shot and killed Sam DuBose, 43, in 2015 after pulling him over for a missing front license plate. Tensing claimed he was dragged by DuBose’s car as it sped away. A bystander’s body camera footage showed Tensing drawing his weapon and shooting DuBose as he tried to flee.

The decision sparked immediate reaction across the country. Protests, marches and calls for forgiveness turned violent in Cincinnati, Ohio. Police used pepper spray, gas and armored vehicles to disperse crowds that swarmed outside the courthouse and police say two people were injured. In Detroit, people carried an effigy of President Donald Trump with a noose around his neck and others held signs and some chanted anti-police slogans.
