Hall of Famer Ralph Mitchell, one of the most successful minor league managers in the history of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets organizations, including two World Series titles, has been appointed by Minor League Baseball as Chairman of the Emphasis, One-Designated One Plan Implementation Working Group.

The framework for the five-year, $5 million FDI Moving Forward Plan was adopted by Minor League Baseball’s Board of Directors on December 9, 2016. The Plan lays out a vision to strengthen and advance Minor League Baseball while implementing business and administrative and strategic practices that will increase revenue and maximize the value of all Minor League Baseball partnerships and fan base.
The Plan provides a framework for the development of a long-term plan to establish a healthy, sustainable and profitable model for Minor League Baseball in a market through the implementation of a Fiscal Year 2019-20 model to coordinate Minor League Baseball functions and enhance the league’s fiscal strength.
Mitchell is a 10-time recipient of the Baseball American League (AAL) Award for Club of the Year, seven times as a manager of the AAL-winning Fort Wayne TinCaps, nine times as manager of the AAL-winning Huntsville Stars, six times as manager of the AAL-winning Quincy Gems, and two times as manager of the AAL-winning Quebec Capitales.
